“After these things, the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision saying, Fear not, Abram, I am your Shield, your abundant compensation, and your reward shall be exceedingly great.” Gen 15:1(Amplified)

Poor old Abraham was at it again. He wasn’t thinking straight and was constantly worrying about whether his faith gamble had finally spectacularly backfired. Well, it wasn’t as if God hadn’t given him material wealth; he had that in abundance. His only problem was that he had no heir to bequeath his great wealth when he finally passes on to the great beyond. Everything he had worked and hoped for would have gone down the drain. He must have been kidding himself and living a pipe dream to think that God would give him a son and unsurprisingly, his dream was going down the drain right before his eyes. After Abraham had worried himself to sleep, God decided to speak to him and the gist of their conversation was that the latter should keep faith with Him as He would reward his obedience beyond his wildest expectations.

God encouraged the disillusioned Abraham to hold on to and keep seeking Him for he will not be disappointed. This is also His timely word for you today. In other words, God wants you to understand that He is all the treasure you would ever need and He wants you to seek Him the same way a driven gold-prospector searches for gold in the hidden places. And what would be our reward for this arduous but highly rewarding task? According to Job 22:21-30 the rewards are simply immense and fantastic.

First, you will be able to have genuine fellowship or relate with God and obtain His favour. That is an honour not accorded to heads of states, so it is a great honour to be associated with God. Second, you will gain unrestricted access to and have audience with God so that whenever you pray, He would answer you. What more can you desire in life than to have the ear of the living God? Third, you will be appointed God’s ambassador to speak on His behalf and decree His will and He will back you up and confirm His word through you. Now, that means that you will become a one man/woman army capable of wreaking great damage to Satan’s kingdom. Fourth, you will be success personified because God’s favour will open doors and create ways for you where none had previously existed as His favour lightens your way. Fifth, you will become irrepressible and a champion. You won’t have to indulge in playing the victim game. No situation will be able to get on top of you because of the God that lives in you. Your perspective on life will be irreversibly altered as God enables you to soar like an eagle over your difficult situation to ultimately defeat it. Lastly, you will build up credibility in heaven such that God will save the guilty and declare him innocent just because you asked Him to. Now, that is a position of great power.

So, if you really have to build up gold or store up treasures, make sure you go for God by building up your relationship with Him, because nothing on earth or in heaven can surpass His worth to you. With Him, life is satisfaction guaranteed. Make God your gold and pursue Him relentlessly until you find Him. He is certainly worth the effort.

Prayer:
Lord, just like the Psalmist, I declare today that you are my God and I will seek you earnestly. Create in me a hunger for your holy presence and draw near to me even as I draw nearer to you. Let me know you so that I can do exploits in your name. Amen.
