“Behold, the virgin shall become pregnant and give birth to a Son, and they shall call His name Emmanuel – which translated, means, God with us.” Matt 1:23 (Amplified)

The angels trembled in the presence of the Almighty God. They could be forgiven for thinking that they detected a joyful mood of expectancy on God’s face. Well, ordinarily, they aren’t allowed to behold His face, but this time is an exception. Any minute from now, God the Father is about to become a Father again as His maidservant, Mary, is about to put to bed or should I say, put to hay, the baby Jesus. God’s long-held dream of becoming man is about to be realised. He is waiting with bated breathe as He watches His Son descend through the birth canal and promptly announce His triumphant arrival with a glorious yelp emanating from His inflated lungs. That sound was music to the Father’s ears. It was simply divine; well, it couldn’t be anything else.

Ever since the day God announced in Gen 3:15 that “And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her Offspring; He will bruise and tread your head underfoot, and you will lie in wait and bruise His heel”, God had worked assiduously over many centuries to bring to pass what He said. Well, that Offspring of the woman was about to be born and the first aspect of that prophecy would have been fulfilled. The offspring was Jesus and the woman was Mary. The Location was Bethlehem in Judea and the labour room was a lowly barn at the back of a hotel – a typical tale of riches to rags.

Looking through the eye of history, it seemed as if God would be forced to swallow His word, as the devil did all in his power to try and thwart God’s plan for the redemption of mankind from the power of sin. When he failed to stop God‘s execution of the first part of the plan, Satan moved on to the second, which was to stop Jesus dying on the cross. When he again failed, he moved on to trying to stop Jesus from resurrecting from the dead and his final act was to try and discredit the fact that Jesus is alive and thus deceive people into strolling into hell. Well, the fact that you are reading this is proof enough that Satan has failed on all counts, for God’s word, once uttered, must be fulfilled. His promises must come to pass since heaven and earth shall pass away first before any of heaven’s cheques can bounce. God’s word is guaranteed by His throne. Consequently, the only way it will not be fulfilled is if God were to be dethroned or incapacitated and since this is a mathematical impossibility, His word will always come to pass.

So, what does Christmas mean to you? For God it meant the fulfilment of a long-held dream. It meant the beginning of the end or is it the end of the beginning of His eternal plan of salvation for mankind. For you, it should mean that the same power that helped God to achieve His dream is available for you to take advantage of and realise your own dreams. Furthermore, it means that just as Satan could not prevent God from realising His dream, so also can the gates of hell not stop you from realising your God-given dream. It means that God has given you all that you need for life and godliness and He has given this not according to our puny earthly measures, but according to heaven’s abundant standard, which will blow your mind. Dreams are for accomplishing. So, go in the might and anointing of Jesus Christ and He will surely make your dream come true. Merry Christmas!

Prayer:
Lord, you are the giver and facilitator of dreams. Cause your anointing to descend on my life and transform my present nightmare into sweet dream. Cause your Holy Spirit to brood on my dream and create order out of my present chaos. Lord, you know how it feels to have your dream come true. Please do the same for me in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
