“To everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under the heaven.” Eccl 3:1 (Amplified)

Why is the subject of the weather the most popular conversation topic at least among the Britons? The answer is because it keeps changing. This change is however not arbitrary as there is a pattern to it. This is the reason why we are able to delineate the weather into four distinct seasons in any particular year – spring, summer, autumn and winter. Spring signifies new birth, summer, the glory days, autumn, fruitfulness and winter, the closure or ending of life. Each season has its benefits, peculiarities and challenges and each require a certain way of dealing in order to overcome and take advantage of such challenges. Nevertheless, one thing stands true for all time; nothing ever stays the same. Consequently, we need to keep adapting to the challenges of life if we are to fulfil our potential or leave a significant legacy.

However, the certainty of change is not the only constant we see around us. In fact, the most constant of all constants is the eternal God who never changes. As the bible proclaims, there is no variableness neither shadow of turning with Him. His word and character never change. They stand true forever and provide us a constant reference point. So, even as we go through life’s many and sometimes difficult changes, we can be rest assured that the constancy of God’s word and character will empower as well as embolden us to face and overcome whatever challenges life might throw at us, since His word already assures us that our faith in Him is the guarantee of our victory.

Placing our trust in God enables us to appreciate the reality that our lives and times or seasons are in His capable hands. So, when things are easy, we are thankful, and when tough, we know we can confidently press into Him in the knowledge that He hears us and rejoice in anticipation of His deliverance, being convinced of the fact that God will cause all things to work together for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose. His constancy intersects with our seasonality and this enables us to know that whatever the scope of change God is always there for us.

So, in what way can we apply this concept to our lives? The first fact is that whatever difficulties you might presently be going through is but a transient phase. It shall pass because its season will end and a better season will soon commence. The second fact is that God has spoken and His purpose stands. The good news is that none of God’s promises concerning you can be nullified by the existence of those difficulties. In fact, God guarantee that His word cannot pass away unfulfilled. It cannot return to Him void, but must necessarily fulfil the purpose for which He sent it. So, whatever season of life you may be in – the promise and youthfulness of spring, the prime of summer, and fruitfulness of autumn or in your winter years, ensure that you live to fulfil God’s purpose for your life. Understand that God is not just the giver of life, but is also the Lord of all seasons. Whatever challenges the present season might present to you is not a problem that God can’t resolve, for nothing is impossible for Him. So, place your life in His hands and you will be fulfilled.

Prayer:
Lord, in line with your word, I cast my burden upon you today in the expectation that you will sustain me. Cause your power to be real to me and magnify your name in my life so that every season of my life will glorify you. Amen.
