“Ask of Me, and I will give You the nations as your inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth as Your possession.” Ps 2:8 (Amplified)

A multibillionaire was once quoted to have said that “If you have to ask for the price of something, then you can’t afford it.” I have also noticed from my association with those who are financially secure that they often have a mentality that is far different from your average Joe. Whenever they want something, they just go for it; of course within reason. A millionaire who is living the lifestyle of a billionaire will probably overreach himself and end his days in jail. However, if you have access to a source of bottomless wealth, you can do whatever you want and acquire whatever your heart desires within reason. So, if the God who according to the bible owns the earth and everything within it invites you to ask for anything you desire, understand that He can afford to give it to you without it making even a slight dent on His vast holdings.

Jesus Christ in John 14:12-14 also displayed this abundant wealth mentality when He promised to underwrite whatever it is we ask of God the Father in His name. This certainly is not the mindset of a pauper who has limited worth, but of an individual who is confident of meeting whatever demand we place on Him to meet our needs or wants. He is not a penny-pinching miser with little to give and everything to hoard. He has even promised to substitute human lives for ours in order to preserve us. Isa 43:4. That same God is now promising to give nations as our inheritance and the earth as our possession at the asking. Could He really mean it and why do we even have to ask? What does that promise entail?

Yes, God will deliver on His promise because He cannot lie. We have to ask because He needs our authorisation and active cooperation to intervene in our world. This is because He has already bound Himself to act in this way; hence the necessity of our asking. So, if we refuse to ask, He too will refuse to act until His judgement falls on the earth and His wrath consumes us. Consequently, God is inviting us to make a big ask so that He can intervene in a big way and do big things that will avert His wrath and attract His mercy. He wants us to ask for nations, even difficult to reach ones, as well as those that are seemingly closed to the Gospel so that He can break through with His power and save those held in captivity by reason of the fear of death by the devil. He needs us to actively ask so that He would then be able to legitimately act in a sin-dominated and demon-infested world, having been authorised to do so by earth’s legitimate ruler – mankind.

So, if God can afford to grant whatever request we make of Him and cause many lives to become receptive to the Gospel, let us take advantage of this great opportunity to do something of significance in our time. Let us ask in faith believing that God has granted our request and thus signal the ingathering of souls in our time.

Prayer:
Lord, I take up your invitation to ask for souls today. I request for the souls of my family and relatives, friends, colleagues, compatriots and all the nations of the world. In line with your word, I ask that all powers that are actively hindering people from receiving your word be broken so that the spiritual blind can indeed receive sight in Jesus name. Amen.
