“In the beginning God (prepared, formed, fashioned, and) created the heavens and earth. The earth was without form and an empty waste, and darkness was upon the face of the very great deep. The spirit of God was moving (hovering, brooding over the waters. And God said, Let there be light; and there was light.” Gen 1:1-3 (Amp)

When you understand that there is no way an event would not occur, you say that it has an air of inevitability. Well, as prophesied, God’s move in our time also has an air of inevitability, because God’s word and purpose must be fulfilled in its entirety. God is just as determined to move in our time the same way He was intent on creating the world or bringing the dry bones back to life. He will not be dissuaded. His purpose for our time is that dry bones shall indeed rise again and become a mighty spiritual army.

In the above passage, the Holy Spirit was like a tightly coiled spring, just waiting to be sprung in order to unleash His immense creative powers over the world to bring order out of chaos, beauty from watery ashes, joy out of depression and sadness, and life out of death. The time was perfect, the stage was set and the Spirit was ready, yet nothing happened. Why? Because God had not yet given the order or spoken the living word and the Spirit can only act based on the dictates of the word. Hence, no word usually translates into zero action. This is because our spoken words contain the vital active ingredient that the Holy Spirit requires to act and effect God’s will in our lives. This principle was proven in God’s interaction with the prophet Ezekiel in that God commanded the latter to speak or prophesy and command the Spirit to come into those dry bones causing bones to be joined to their respective bones and covered in musculature. He later spoke again and the corpses became a living army. This simply confirms the truth of God’s word in Prov. 18:20 that the power of life and death are in the tongue. What you say is effectively what you get. So, how does this affect us?

God is determined to move, but He can’t do it without our participation. He has bound His actions of doing creative miracles to our own actions of prophesying His will. This is because He needs our permission to act in a world whose administration He has already delegated to mankind. Therefore, to act otherwise is to violate His word and undermine His authority. So, unless you boldly speak in faith and command His move, from the personal perspective, nothing will happen in your life. However, on the global front, God would have to enlist the services of those individuals who would do His bidding as He must necessarily move as already decreed by Scripture.

Your word is all that God requires to begin turning dire situations around in your life. He has the ‘want to’, but you must necessarily supply the authorisation permitting Him to act in your realm of influence. The spiritual gun-powder is primed to explode, but you must first light the fuse by boldly speaking God’s will over that situation so that life can result. Don’t keep Him waiting. Speak life and the world is your oyster.

Prayer:
Lord, your word says in James 3:4-5 that the tongue is like a rudder, that tiny part that steers a large ship. I boldly speak your living word and will over my situation and my world today and decree that your kingdom come and your will be done in my life. Cause your Spirit to bring order out of the chaos that is my life in Jesus’ name. Amen.
