“And he arose at once and picked up the sleeping pad or mat and went out before them all, so that they were all amazed and recognised and praised and thanked God, saying, We have never seen anything like this before!” Mark 2:12 (Amplified)

The supreme object of faith is to please God and glorify His name. Anything that falls short or deviate from this lofty end is sin. Jesus was quite clear on His motivation; He did nothing unless the Father bid Him and always sought to glorify Him. This is the reason why God the Father always backed Him up and did mighty miracles through Him. Nevertheless, the cunning Satan whose ministry is to steal, kill and destroy and who is usually on the receiving end of these miracles will do everything in his power to try and deprive us of the best he knows that God has prepared for His children.

One way he manages this is by attacking our motivation in seeking God’s touch. As the inveterate accuser of the brethren, Satan excels at twisting and misrepresenting facts in order to try and achieve his own morbid end. He attacked Job’s motivation for serving God the same way he often attacks our motivation in seeking to do something that will glorify God by accusing us of trying to arrogate God’s glory for ourselves – the same heinous crime he was guilty of and for which he was banished from heaven. He therefore deploys guilt as the weapon of choice and as a preventative measure in seeking to stop us from taking any step that would put him at a disadvantage. He will ask you ‘Are you sure you are really doing this for the right reason or just want your one hour of fame in the limelight? He will do just enough to throw you off balance and enough to make you doubt your motivation and reconsider taking that vital step of faith that is crucial to attracting God’s anointing to your life.

One fact that we all need to understand is that God does not need to hoard blessings in heaven because they are of no use to Him. However we do need these blessings and that is the reason why we seek His touch. His paramount interest is in the praise and gratitude that emanate from our lips in appreciation of His blessing and the glory that brings to Him. God is protectively jealous about His glory and will only share it with those who have demonstrable dependency on Him. Satan’s tactic is to deny the glory due to God by making us to doubt our sincerity. You responsibility is to ensure that he fails. So, when he accuses you of seeking your own glory, counter his accusation by praising God instead. Refuse to yield to his insinuations and pursue God’s glory and blessings will accrue to you because you are living by faith, which pleases God to no end. In all the stories we considered, God was glorified as Jesus met the needs of those desperate, determined and dependent people. He is just as happy to meet your need(s) today whatever the complexity for He delights in the prosperity of His people of which you are one. So, redouble your faith effort as you violently press-in into God for He rewards those who diligently seek Him. Heaven, the world and its riches belong to those who would forcefully stake their claim to what God has designated as theirs. Take a bold and unrelenting step of faith with regards to your situation as you subsequently force your way to the top of God’s agenda. God bless.

Prayer:
Father, I ask that you take all the glory due to your name and give me the blessings that will change my life for good. Like you, who sees the end from the beginning, I proclaim the end I desire and trust that as I desperately, determinedly and dependently seek you, I shall find and be impacted by you to the glory of your name. Amen.
